Information for Pensioners

The University is committed to looking after its pensioners, many of whom have completed long service with the organisation. Some of the information on these pages also refers to pensioners at the colleges. For example, the Pensioners' Welfare Officer supports OSPS pensioners from the colleges as well as University pensioners.

OSPS pensioners can find the pay dates for their pensions on the Payroll website.

The University demonstrates its continuing concern for the welfare of its pensioners and dependants through the work of the Pensioners' Welfare Officer. Should you wish to discuss any welfare issue, or if you know of somebody else in need or difficulties, please contact Julia Powles, the Pensioners' Welfare Officer on (01865) 616203. She will arrange home visits where appropriate.

You can find useful telephone numbers and email addresses for welfare organisations on this page

The Association of Oxford University Pensioners (AOUP), founded in 1985, has the principal object of keeping retired staff in touch with each other and with the University department or institution that employed them.

Every employee who is working for the University at the time of his or her retirement - academic and non-academic – is automatically a member of the Association.

All retired employees receive a free copy of the Association's newsletter, University Pensioner, which is published twice each year.

Members and their partners may pay a small annual subscription to participate in the social activities of the Association. These include informal meetings, lectures on topics of general interest, and half- and whole-day visits in and around Oxford and further afield as well as an extended trip to more distant parts of the country.

The Association is also concerned for the welfare of its members and co-operates with the University's Pensioners' Welfare Officer. When you retire, your membership is automatic. If you wish to participate in the social activities of the Association, please email or write to the address below for further details.
