PC set up for R12

Browser and Excel Settings

The security setting "automatic prompting for file downloads" needs to be enabled in order to be able to view in Ghostscript and export reports to Excel from Internet Explorer. Finally, pop up blockers should be disabled, and/or, if necessary, allowed to access the * domain.

You may also want to check the following documents, which shows how to set the security/trusted sites settings for reports, WebADI (for journal uploading) to run and clearing temporary internet browser files.

Java Web Start

Java Web Start launches Java-based functionality as Java Web Start applications i.e. as a desktop based window instead of as an applet, from within your internet browser. Java Web Start is part of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), therefore JRE will still need to be installed on your machine. If you are having issues running Java from within Oracle Financials, please speak to your local IT support in the first instance.

Java Web Start still allows users to open more than one form in their session however, users will need to apply this option in their General Preferences, details of which can be found in the following document:

Due to it's seamless functionality within that browser, we still recommend users access Oracle Financials via Internet Explorer 11 (IE11). Those who choose to use Chrome, Firefox, Edge or any other browser may find that they need to take additional steps in order to be able to open Java forms in those browsers. Details of how to open Java forms in those browsers and/or configure them to open Java forms can be found here:

PLEASE NOTE: FSSC do not support Chrome, Firefox or Edge browsers, so should Java Web Start no longer function for users, within those browsers then, they should revert to Internet Explorer 11.

Workstation Hardware

Oracle Financials is not demanding of PCs in terms of local CPU processing or networks in terms of bandwidth loading. If the PC runs Microsoft Office with no problems then it should also be able to run Oracle Financials.
